This is a 1985 cover of a Superman cover. Jerry Siegel, who as a teen-ager helped create the Superman character that soared to glory in comic books, movies and television, died of heart failure. He was 81. Siegel died Sunday Jan. 28, 1996 at Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital, said Martha Thomases, spokeswoman for DC Comics.
