The Median was the first of many models developed in the Mustang line, initially as an "experimental car." It had the T-Bird "feel," but Ford built it to carry four. The Allegro, another pre-Mustang Ford experiment, was built in 1962. It introduced the "fastback" roof similar to the present Mustang 2 plus 2, already a best-seller. This is the original Mustang, first built in 1962 as an experimental two-passenger car. Ford stylists liked the response, built it to a car-for-four and hit the jackpot. The Mustang II, introduced in 1963 as "a market research vehicle" became the forerunner of the mighty little car which has stormed the market since its spring debut.
